Just wondering how often the gear case lube should be changed and what products are best for johnsons

I'd still do it every year then, it's cheap insurance.

At least, pull the bottom plug out and check for water every now and then. You should also pull the top plug and check the level with a bent zip tie or something similar, it should be right below the hole. I also pull my prop to check for fishin line every couple of months, fishin line will tear thru the seal if left there for any length of time.

Very easy DIY job that can be done for about $7 - 8. I pull the plugs and let it drain overnight to get as much of the old stuff out as possible. One of the lu lube pumps makes the job even easier. Don't forget to replace the plug seals..............Pete

Good idea, I don't let mine sit overnight but maybe a hour or so but I also pump 4 or 5 oz. in through the top hole to help flush out the old residue. 10-12 oz of new oil goes in the truck motor to do the same thing.
