Fred, Rusty, or anyone, ref: Teleflex Trim Control

I saw somewhere on here the Teleflex trim control was discussed. My question is, how hard is it to install the single control on a 03' Champ196 with a Rude 200. Is this something I can do without going to the dealer. I still use the handle button and want to change to the lever control. I see where BPS has them for 40 bucks. Any help is well appreciated. Thanks

Hey Sandy,
It's pretty easy to do worse part is getting the wheel off, the switch has the complete details in it for all of Teleflex's steering systems, then you just hook it into your trim wiring. CM

As da Man, CM said, installing a ( turn signal type) trim switch on the steering post is very easy. 3 wires green, red, blue if my memory is right. You can connect at the control, or you may be able to splice into the wires going to the switch at the bow. You might need a wheel puller to get the steering wheel off.

Make sure you do a good job on the connections. You don't want the tilt/trim to start acting up while you're on plane.....................Pete

Peice of cake if you can get the wheel off. I put one on last week using splice in connectors. That made it real easy. If you watch you can pick one up for less than $30 on Ebay.
