    Merc 200 conversion question

My buddy has a 1993 200 Merc efi that is blown however he found a 1996 200 Merc carbed motor. Can the 1996 motor be converted to an efi using his old motor parts? Also how difficult would it be? Thanks for your help.

Can certainly be done. Essentially, the entire electrical, ignition, fuel system would be swapped, and the engine set up as if it were a '93.

Strongly recommend verifying serial numbers FIRST, to ensure that both engines are 2.5L models.

Additionally.... very wise to have the injectors serviced before reassembly (and other fuel delivery components tested) to ensure that there was not a fuel delivery problem in those components that resulted in powerhead failure).
