Speaking of Coffee Makers...

How many of you use a French press? We bought one from IKEA while in Portland and I gotta say, it's definitely making some of the best coffee I've ever had!

They do make a fine cup without a doubt... but I'm partial to my Bunn velocity brewer - makes great coffee in a flash and that's how I want it in the mornings

I think that is a very good coffee maker, one of the top ones. I use a Bunn, been using one for years and love it. We bought our daughter a Keurig for Christmas of 2010 and our daughter-in-law one this Christmas. Coffee is an important part of starting my day. If that new coffee maker makes the cup that starts your day off good then your good to go

the press is the way to go if your hunting taste. most folks fall away from it due to its time consuming.

I like it when I just want a cup or two but I still use a drip machine when I need to consume mass quantities.

I use a French press every day . It's the absolute best !

Here's one that I have. It's thermal and will keep the coffee hot for 2-3hrs

That's a really nice one! We have a small glass press. Since we live on the road, things have to stay fairly compact. I also picked up a really small (one cup) press at Goodwill for when only a single cup is needed, or if the wife and I want different warm drinks.

I've got an Aero Press and that thing is amazing. I am back to drinking Coffee everyday now.

They do make a fine cup of coffee, but if you wish to have the ultimate, try a Cona Vacuum pot. They are not inexpensive, but if you purchase quality coffee & brew with this coffee maker, you will experience the best coffee can be!

We have a french press, a Keurig, a very nice quisinart and a Bunn and hands down, the Bunn is the best! There's a reason most food establishments use Bunn.

For one thing, you have to grind your coffee beans a little courser than you would for a drip maker. I made some coffee in the french press the other night and left the grinder in the same setting as it's always in and the coffee came out a little murky. So, I would say getting the grind of the coffee right is the most important. If you don't grind your own coffee then the regular grind that come in the can will probably work just fine. I like strong coffee so I grind the beans for the drip maker a little finer so it will brew stronger. A good burr grinder is one of the best kitchen gadgets you can own.

Other than that there's nothing to it. Just pour the coffee in the pot and the fill it with not quite boiling water, stir, put the lid on and let it sit for 3 minutes...then slowly press it down...pour and enjoy.

Everything he said is what I would've said. Only thing I'd add is that I give the pot a little swirl in a few circles before pressing. It causes most of the grounds to fall freely to the bottom, lessening the chance of any getting past the screen edges. This also allows me to use finer grounds for better flavor.
