In fishing and in life only one thing stays the same and that is that everything changes.
I throw 2 1st is a strike king redeye shad citrus color 1/2oz regular and the 2nd is a Excalibur xr50 5/8oz regular in red and black. I throw these in about 5ft of water with about 3ft if grass and rip the heck out of them threw it I've caught some numbers and monsters doing this
Xcalibur.. size and color will vary depending on which lake and water conditions.

Over the years the Cordell Spot or the Red Eye Shad may be it that day but the original rattle trap would be in my box if they said you could only take one.

I like the XR50/Excalibur the best... just my personal pref.

Red Eye Shad in either chrome blue, chrome black, chrome sexy, orange craw or red/spring craw patterns, all rattleing. I let the fish tell me what they like on any given day but those are the only colors I carry.
I locate fish throwing a 1/4oz, once I find them I switch to a 1/2oz.

For some reason, certain lipless baits do produce better for me in particular colors.
I have consistent success with gold sexy red eye shads, tenn. shad yozuri vibes and silver/black back traps.
and orange craw traps for prespawn.
I think yet again, it all boils down to confidence. It makes you fish a bait more seriously. If I don't have confidence in what I'm throwing, I always find myself burning it, whether or not I should be.
I find it interesting that I have yet to see any Lucky Craft or other JDM lipless baits listed here. I have a few LV's but just can't get confident throwing them.![]()
