It's very surprising that fish lived to be that large. I knew a guy who would go to a local fish store, to buy goldfish for bass fishing.
He caught a lot of bass this way. Said it was the best live bait he ever used.
I caught one and weighed it in a tournament, about 3 1/2 lbs. Not as gold as that one though.

pretty sure that the wv dnr isolated the gene that produces the gold pigment color, and combined with a rainbow trout to produce the palomino about 45 years ago.

I caught a mean mouth a few years ago that was gold color, but not that gold.
Be happy you caught a fish out of the tidal..delaware river don't complain what color it is......
I knew them marshes off of Crown Point Road near the tanker farms had fish in 'em
