Hey guys, I'm looking at a Javelin Renegade 18 with a Johnson 115. It's only got one problem, the tach doesn't work. How difficult is it to replace one?
Thanks.

Not difficult but you need to be sure its the tach that is the problem first.![]()
I just got the Evinrude Ficht 150 fired up for the first time this year and noticed that my tach in the Stratos wasn't working. I was wondering how hard it was to change a tach too. It stopped working at the end of last year.
Replacing a tach is easy enough. You have to make sure that all the wires are making connection on the battery, no wing nuts. Does the tach move at all, is it frozen at the last reading? does the needle go down to -0- when the key is on? Are your other guages working? Is your battery charging, on the ficht, this will not be an issue, but it applies to the standard smoker engines.
