    Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza 2012

    The Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza is Arkansas' largest amateur big bass tournament on the Arkansas River June 29 & 30 & July 1, 2012. A total of $100,000 in prize money!

    Brought to you by the Arkansas Hospitality Association, the Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza spans 300 miles of eligible fishing from Fort Smith to Dumas — the entire length of the Arkansas River within the state’s borders. As in previous years, the river will be divided into five fishing pools, and each pool will have one official weigh-in site. The five weigh-in sites are:

    • Clear Creek Park, Fort S...mith;
    • Dardanelle State Park, Russellville side;
    • North Little Rock Marina & Boat Dock, located on the east side of the I-30 bridge near NLR;
    • Regional Park, Pine Bluff; and
    • Pendleton Bridge, east of Dumas.

    The tournament begins at 6 a.m. sharp on all three days, with the first hourly weigh-in at 8 a.m. and subsequent weigh-ins at the top of each hour until the final 1 p.m. weigh-in. (More information on tournament rules and format is available on the web site at www.arkansasbigbass.com).

    Anglers can choose to fish one, two or all three days of the tournament. Fishermen can choose to fish any of the five pools and can fish different pools during the three-day event. However, all fish must be weighed in the pool in which they were caught. Eligible fish species include largemouth, smallmouth and Kentucky spotted bass (black bass).See More

    Good luck to the BBC locals! I can't seem to catch a bass on the river to save my life unless someone is guiding me. Offshore structure on lakes is where my heart is and what I know how to do best.

    Ill say you'll have a better chance at the overall down there. Up here the lake just seems really messed up.
    Id love to head down there and give it a go one year.

    They have to take a polygraph, im pretty sure they would catch em.

    Looks like they sweetened the pot a bit more this year. The winner also gets a free entry to the BassMaster Central Open in OK.

    just fish one day then. you basically have a 1 in 3000 shot at winning if you are in anyway capable of fishing.

    This year's going to be hilarious. No flow. Absolutely no flow. There'll be a 2000 boat carnival ride around the river banks - and they'll all be out on the channel ledges laughing. Dumas will be about the only place on the river / lake where you can catch good fish in less than 15-20 feet of water. I'm sittin' this out. That many pizzed off bubba's catching dinks - no way I'm going out there.....

    Stew, there is flow in just the right places. And yes the fish are flocking to them. unfortunately work is requiring me to miss the first day due to random state inspections we are in the midst of. So im donating $90 in entry to the ones fishing the first day i guess.

    The flow on the river is 4.5-5K which is essentially none. Check either corps of engineers or NOAA. It takes 25K to put them on shallow structure. You can catch dink spots in the occasional blow holes. Only folks catching any weight are fishing the deep drops.

    with a low flow in the main river you can bet on fish in the natural inflow areas. And the deep spots and where those intersect. You can also look directly at the power generation schedules. And thats all Im sharing about that, b/c im gonna fish this thing tomorrow.

    Looks like dardanelle pool has it with a 5.94 , some poor guy in Dumas weighed a 5.93. Thats gotta be frustrating if that holds up, especially if he had caught it early and waited to weigh it.
