Finally figured something out.

We got on a pretty solid pattern today catching numerous 3-3.5lb fish during the first gateway bass tournament. I thought I had a pretty decent bag and would have a shot at cashing a check, but I was missing that 1 good bite. We ended up with alittle over 17lbs and got 6th place I think. There were a couple 18lb bags and a 20lb bag. Adam and Scott won of course with 21.30lbs. Thats a big bag of fish just about anywhere in the country right now. We didn't win, but we held our own against some great sticks. Out of 17 boats only 2 didn't catch a limit, thats a good day on the water for sure.

yeah it was a great day. like I said, 1 big 5lb bite and we would have been in the money we just couldn't get that bite. I have a rocsters tomorrow so I'm hoping to duplicate the pattern we got on and win that. My gateway partner fishes the rocsters also so I'm sure tomorrow we'll each have a 5lbr. lol

Shitty. I won big bass with 1 almost 5 but I only caught 2 fish. I went to my spot like the day before and got the big one on like the 3rd cast so I figured my pattern was still good.I made a couple passes on that with nothing so I ran to another spot and got a good 1 right away so my pattern appeared to be still really good but after a bfew hours without another bite I went to check out some other spots without a bit. Got back in spring about 11 and found out that while I was gone they turned on so I went back at it but lost trolling batteries about 12 so I couldn't fish my pattern effectively.

Well that stinks, decision making is a big part of the game, its hard to stay when they are not biting but knowing they are there and and trying to figure it out and waste the day doing that stinks also. Been there 100s of times over 30+ years. Maybe next time.

yeah I'm kicking myself for not staying, but it was just a rocsters and I actually won more money for big bass. lol, I wanted to see what some of the other spring times spots I really like looked like, so I pretty much went pre-fishing. Spring lake was the only thing I fished all year so I really wanted to get out and see what everything else looked like.

haha, to true. Even in spring lake I was running and gunning. I got on a pattern targeting a certain weed type and a pass or 2 in each area without catching a fish and I was moving to the next. haha Hopefully someday I figure it out, but we'll see I guess. I just hate Spring lake so much, I had a great day yesterday, but that was the first time I did decent in there and when my pattern wasn't working out so good anymore I didn't know what else to do. I just don't know spring lake well enough
