2011, the good and the bad.

Well I haven't been deployed since 2004 (iraq), in Sept I found out I was scheduled for deployment to afghanistan in 2012. I didn't mind but my wife was nervous. Well I guess that got changed and now I am going to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to guard the detainees from Afghanistan. I am a platoon sergeant so I am in charge of 30+ soldiers these days. I can't say when I leave on here (online) but its post spawn. I am hoping to get some serious fishing done this spring/summer before I go.

I was in the 339th MP Co from Davenport when they went to Cuba in 2002 but I didn't get to go as I wasn't done with all of my training back then. I have talked to a few people and they said they fished and did scuba diving while they were down there. One person said they have a 2 limit lobster per day for each person. Cook them yourself!!

I have two good buddies that I fish with in Ames during drill weekends going also and we should have a good time on that aspect. I sound all excited but I am really not, as I will be away from my kids and wife. I just denied an awesome mission to guard a general in Iraq all of 2011, to stay home with my new daughter and now I get this.

Oh well. I just thought I'd throw this out and let you guys now. I plan on getting a lot of water time this year!

Xmas was good too, got my daughter a Dora life jacket and I got a lot of gift cards to Bass Pro and one to walmart with specific instructions "for fishing stuff only".!!!

Maybe I can get a nice truck and boat when I return home in 2012 also.

Thanks JJ. I had Mark Milleman do one of his famous 8 minutes surgery's on me monday and we chatted fishing and hunting the whole time. He said nothing but nice things about you. Can't wait till the thaw and I can throw some of my new stuff in the water, I just hope I don't get hung up too much and get can't it back lol.

Sounds good Joe, I'd love to see what Belva Deer is all about. I heard some guys talking about it when I was hunting this year. Sounds like I could get some use from all this gear I have finally :)

Belva Deer was awesome last year. Hope it's just as good next year, it should be. Took forever but that lake finally grew up last year.

Just got report after this weekend that it's pushed back till Jan 2012!!! I'm fishing all year this year!
