I've got an 04 Avalanche, and the running lights on my trailer are not working. My brake lights, right and left turn signals work fine. Is there a running light fuse under the hood? Any suggestions?![]()

Should be a fuse under the hood.
Is the running light on your truck working ok?
Yes theyre good!

this happened to me on my Tundra. All i had to do what replace a blown fuse under the hood.
+1 on the blown fuse. The trailer circuit and truck circuit are separate on the Avalanche. Fuse should be located under your hood...reference your Owner's Manual for exact location.
Fuse my might not be under the hood. Check both fuse panels with a test light, logic probe or meter. I also keep a small LED trailer plug tester with me. Its about ten bucks at the autoparts and it'll at least tell you if its the truck or trailer.

If your running lights are mounted on fiberglass fenders, the problem could be with the ground wires which connect the lights to the trailer frame. Otherwise, you could have bad lights or bad positive wire connections where your running lights tie into your tail light wires.

Mine on my F150 it was in the fuse box under dash. If I let the ground on the trailer 5 pin touch the other exposed pins on the truck it will blow. I got a round 5 pin adapter to stop my shaky hand from doing this.

Life is kinda hard but it's
better than the other options .. er ..option !
I tried by buddies 7 pin connection on his truck and I got the same result. No running lights, but good stop and turn signal. now what?

Probably a bad connection in the tongue somewhere.
Fuse under dash goes to trailer lights.
OR Use some extra wire as a jumper to check each bulb. May have to rewire them. Sometimes its the plug at the trailer gone bad.

One more try....need to check your fuses. On the Avalanche, the running lights for the trailer are on their own circuit, as are the, stop (own circuit), turn (own circuit), and back-up (own circuit). Each on of these circuits has a fuse. On the Avalanche, they are located in the fuse box under your hood. Your owners manual will tell you the exact location in the box. Pull fuse and see if it's blown.
Look for trouble in the brown wire. It is the power source for your running lights. If you have a bad ground the brake lights stop working first.
