update for 250 ETEC - fuel atomization deflector??

Read about this over on THT. Waiting to hear from my dealer in Ohio but if there is any info that can be shared please do - planning first fishing trip on Lake Erie for next Thursday weather permitting and would sure like to have this handled before then if necessary.

I had the updates related to engine temperature done last fall, but sounds like this is a different update related to how the fuel gets atomized and helps slow speed issues.

Approximately 75% of my 200 hours have been at trolling speeds less than 1000 RPMs. Other than the plug fouling that has been covered by warranty the motors have been great.

I have twin 250s. Serial numbers, software versions, EMM Serial numbers can be provided if that would help.

Is there anyplace on the web that an owner can get a listing of ALL updates / buletins, etc. that would apply to their motors??
    Thanks,
    Steve

Re: update for 250 ETEC - fuel atomization deflector?? (FreeByrd)

Refer your dealer to Service Bulletin 2006-02(S). A recent cylinder head design change improves spark plug life for extended low-speed running. This involves installing a new (longer) deflector pin (next to each spark plug). Actual work takes about an hour...

You mentioned engine temperature updates, but based on the majority of your use, you should also have your dealer double check the following Service Bulletins: 2005-05(S) and 2006-01(S).

    Hope this helps,
    -John

This update works!!! I got a lot of trollers here and it does make a difference, although they were no complaining about the orriginal set up. Some of my customers troll for 2-5 miles before checking and resetting the bait. Some days are harder to fish than others they say. I have seen the Free Byrd on tht, it will help you out.

Have the kits installed. Good dealers will call all there customers that purchased these engines and let them know about it. Its a easy swap that takes no time.
