    1987 Evinrude 150XP

I can't break the trim/tilt screw for the fluid fill. It is a large flat head single screw. I have a big screwdriver but it won't budge.... Any tips on getting this thing out? I am afraid to hit it with a hammer, don't want to screw anything up....

    Try one of these...

    1) Get the biggest screwdriver that fit and get one that has a square shaft so you can get a wrench on it. If you have help, have them lean on the screwdriver while you turn with the wrench.

    2) Same screwdriver, make sure it's flat on the screw and give it a few sharp taps with a small hammer and try the above again.

    3) Get an impact driver. Again, sharp short blows with a light hammer.

4)Put the heat wrench to it. Be careful about burning the paint. A heatgun instead of a torch will help avoid this

#' 4 is a last ditch resort. If I got to the stage where I was considering this, I'd probably give it a rest for at least a day because I'd be somewhat disgruntled and maybe not using my best judgement.

Penetrating oil would be better than W-40 and the other suggestion as well.
Burning the candle at both ends.

PB blaster is a great penetrant for this type of thing.

get a ratchett with a flat bit use the largest bit that will fit the screw. Use a bar on the ratchett if needed for extra leverege its hard to get enough tourqe on a screw driver.
