    Yet Another "What Oil" Question

I just purchased a new bass boat with 2011 250 Evinrude HO power. So far it's had two gallons of XD50 through it. My dealer put the first gallon in it and I put in the second. My dealer says the motor runs fine with either XD50 or X100. What will be the differences in motor performance and longevity with the two oils? What are the trade offs in using one versus the other?

I would choose XD100 because... no need to decarbon and XD100 performs better in cold weather than XD50. If you factor in the actual oil usage these newer motors have, the XD100 is worth the cost. Just fill the oil tank and go fishing. If your dealer has the 100 in bulk, take in your own clean jug, let them fill it and it can save you a few dollars, too.

I run xd50 in my carbed Johnson, but if I had a newer motor, it would get the XD100 for sure.

If you switch to the XD100, let the oil reservoir level drop to 1/4 tank then add the 100, and you'll be good to go.
