Awesome shots. You can't get a feel for how BIG those ships are until you get on one and I have only been on the USS Alabama. Thank your son also

wasnt there a previous 'spruance 'in the fleet ??? i swear i saw a ship at mayport named that 20 years ago....do they reuse names if the old ship has been decommissioned ? just curious

Yes there was a destroyer with the same name, USS Spruance, but it was sunk due to old age and is now a reef somewhere. The speaker at the commissioning mentioned it.
