    Buffalo River

Me and 3 buddies are going up to the Buffalo river for the weekend Sep 24-26. We are staying Here in Ponca. Anybody ever been to this part of the Buffalo in late September? Just curious what to expect as far as river level and (most importantly for me) the fishing! I wanna catch a damn Smallmouth!

aaaaa...what river level? No rain no river. Haven't been over in a couple of weeks but have a buddy that crosses it 2 times a day and he said it was low low low right now. However, you'll see tons of beautiful scenery!!!!

September in Ponca. I doubt that you will get to fish any at all up that far that late in the year. Fishing that late in the year is best from the hwy 14 bridge on down river.

Kings river isn't all the far away from where you are staying either.
May not be much "floating" going on in Sept. BUT, wading should be fine. Especially near Ponca.
You can wade through the pools and fish them, walk across the shoals to the next pool and fish it.
Wear old sneakers/tennis shoes. If you plan on keeping any for eating, Clip a stringer on your belt-loop...and wear jeans, not shorts. (those fins will cut your legs up sumpin' fierce).
Stringers are also a good way to keep up with a 6-pack.

Ultra-Light, 6lb test, 1/4oz tube jig, zoom 3.5" skinny tube. Green punkin, watermellon, or natural shell. One small pop-r, one small spook, handfull of 1/8oz brown or orange rooser tails with gold blade.

Stop by the house on your way thru, I'll just go with ya.

Hmm...Ok, so all we need is a chit-ton of rain then! Either way it'll be a fun trip..I personally was more worried about the fishing...but we're gonna try to go zip lining too. And I GUARANTEE you I won't run out of beer this time!!!!! (stupid AR and your dry counties)
