It's finally here! Going to Millwood this weekend. Fri-Sunday.
First time fishing Arkansas, hope the basses are hungry!
Any specific boating or fishing laws I need to be aware of?

Be very careful when running. It is a STUMP filled lake with boat lanes. I don't even go out on the lake. I fish the backwaters up the Little River. Some of the navigation boueys are missing which makes running somewhat difficult unless you have the channel marked.
the lanes in the main lake are all marked with telepone type poles. most are about 3 boat widths wide. as wildkat said some channels markers do get washed around in the river. if lake is normal channel is pretty obivious most of the time. if your not in the channel you better be idling.
LIfe jackets for everybody on board, and a throwable if your boat is over 16 feet, make sure your fire extinguisher is up to date, insurance info in the boat, fishing license, that should just about cover it. Or go to

If you think of any other questions.

I am too good for nothing![]()
One more thing......two words......Mudd Lake!![]()
oh, and be sure to drag a large ham, or beef leg behind the boat. It really draws the BIG ones in.....![]()
3 bass limit. Bring a camera to take pictures of the Alligators. Some are really healthy specimens(12 foot or so).
Heard that a recent Cooper Tire employee tournament was won with a 3 fish limit of 24lbs and change. The kicker fish was a 9+lb fish. That was only good enough for 5th big bass as two over 11 and two over 10 were ahead of him..........![]()
Thanks for all the info. Hopefully the gators don't like buzzbaits. Chance of rain the whole weekend of course. Any area of the lake NOT good for bass fishing? What about crappie?
gators love buzzbaits......esp. the little ones
Gators like buzzbaits and frogs. Lake about normal. Cooper tire tourney was a goodone, however this past weekend was a two day and took 33lbs, 6perboat per day, to win. Crappie is out in about 6 - 8 foot water. Check with Millwood Guide service website for a report. There's a link on my website. Take care.
