I was told these have the same flywheels. I bought a said 300 hpdi model and it is 1/4 inch bigger in diameter and will not fit. Was I mislead? They look the same, until you put a tape on them or try and install it.![]()

Yeah sorry Mike. The HPDI flywheel is bigger. Whoever told you probably just didn't know.

can appreciate that there are some smart people in NASCAR (I'm a big fan) but..........2 stroke and race cars are a bit different. Many others, including myself have been lightening flywheels for decades (it's not a new thing). The process we use was developed on Formula One and Two engines that turn 10,000 rpms with hours of racing with no problems. I have never seen an engine not idle or have any adverse effects from a lightened flywheel. I promise you if you document the on plane time, mid-range aceleration, and top end, you will see a difference!!! In most cases the topend is not as significant as the hole shot and mid range!
As far as balancing....we do not have a 10K balancing machine........but the process we use to machine the wheel only removes material from areas that do not effect the balance of the wheel If we did, it would shake every bolt and nut our of the engine

A 15lb reduction in rotating mass = a 45lb reduction in static mass in acceleration of a vehicle.
That is why car racers get light weight rims, it is one easy way to increase acceleration coming off a corner!!!

The difference is not a linear function of reduced weight, but an algorythm of the square of weights before & after weight removal. Location of the weight also matters. The further from center(axis), the slower the acceleration.![]()

But to keep things in perspective, the most important thing about Flowery Branch is I'm 5 minutes from Lanier, a tremendous spotted bass fishery.![]()
Lanier is a great lake. I've also spent some time on Oconee. Had a hilarious night there with my wife catching big largemouth after dark under the people eating lobster on the deck at the Ritz Carlton. One guy kept getting up and looking over the rail to see what all the splashing was about. His tux and lobster bib were cute!![]()
