Here goes, and theres no way to make this long story short.
Couple years ago at Chicot, I lost a trim cylinder on my 150 V-max. Got the boat home before anybody figured out that I pulled a light pole over at the ramp trying to get the transom saver in place.
Once home, I began my search for a used tilt/trim unit. Found Yamaha units on ebay for $700+. Saw that Evinrude units were $75+. Began comparing photo's and they sort-of looked JUST ALIKE. Figured for $75, If it didn't work, I could always re-sell a Rude unit.
Once it got here, All I had to do was grind down "narrower" the upper bushing hole on the center tilt rod. (upper mounting point).
That Evinrude tilt unit has been on that Yamaha 150 for two years now and never a problem. (it was the same as Yamaha).
