    ECU removal

I'm ready to send my ECU in for reflash after speaking to a couple of folks but I'm not sure where it's located on the motor and how easy it is to remove. Does anyone know where it's at under the cowl and if there's anything special I need to know when removing it?

    Thanks

Not hard to remove at all. A number 10mm socket plus an 8 inch extension and a allen wrench (not sure of the size) you will have about 16 bolts and 3 allen screws to remove.
First remove the top plastic cover that covers the flywheel. (two bolts)
Remove the three allen screws from the plastic that covers the coils.
Remove the plate that holes the coils. The extension will come in handy when removing the bottom two bolts. (8 bolts)
Remover the next plate, that plate will have the ECU on the back side. (4 bolts)
    Remove the ECU (2 bolts)
Unplug the two wiring harnesses that plugs into the bottom of the ECU.

The parts that you remove are rubber mounted and have a sleeved washer. These sleeved washers can come out of the rubber grommet when putting the bolts back in and drop into the bottom of the cowling and a bitch to retrieve. The two bottom ones on the plate that holds the ECU are really bad about coming out.

That doesn't sound bad at all. I can do that afterwork today and ship it out tomorrow.

    Thanks

I have replaced mine at the boat ramp. 20 minutes tops and that is off and back on.

A 5mm allen wrench is what you'll need, it's a breeze to do.. Connor is right, aobut 20 min with a beer break...
