    ECU Reprogram?

If a 225 hpdi can be re-programmed to a 250 what physical attributes distinguish the two motors from each other or is it just the ECU?

I understand an ECU reprogram allows the rev limiter to be set higher but what else does it do for you?

Of course to get the best results you should be changing out parts etc.. but at this point i'm just trying to see all the advantages of the ecu upgrade.

    Re: ECU Reprogram? (SkeeterJohn)

The difference between the 225 and the 250 aside from the ECU is the porting in the block, with the 250 ports being a little bigger... I had a Hydro-Tec ported 225 to I believe 250 specs, maybe a bit bigger and ran it with the stock 225 ecu, and I tell ya it was killer on holeshot and midrange.. The spark timing on the 225 ecu is higher than any of the others (200, 250, 300) therefore I think making it crisper at lower engine speeds and in the midrange.. These guys have the Yamaha's down to a science and they can make animals out of just about anything!
