What is the best way to replace my brake lines?

I have a CustomLine tube trailer. I just installed a new actuator and tried bleeding the lines tonight. My brake fluid is not comming out the cracked bleeder valve. It's going somewhere inside the trailer is seems. Can I use a rubber hose like the disconnect has?

My Bumble Bee had a tube trailer and one of the brake lines started leaking inside the tube. I worked all weekend trying to fish a new line thru that tube. Gave up, bought some stainless brake line and stainless clips, ran it along the trailer frame, worked fine. I considered using a long rubber or stainless brake hose. Good luck, gonna be a fun job.

Hey Mike ! I went through that once. There are a couple ways but I found it easiest to use a coupling fitting and attach it to the hard line by the axle and hook the new hard line to it . Using the old hard line to pull it through to the toung of the trailer then remake your connections. I also used about 5 pieces of tight slip fit rubber hose in various places to keep the new hard line from coming in contact with the inside of the tube frame. Took me about an hour or so.

mike im not sure about using rubber hose i know on a car you cant make your own hose because of the pressure will blow off the clamps, with a trailer set up not sure what the operating pressure is gonna be . the best advice i would give is to tape up the ferrils and nut and try to run it through the trailer, or get a double male connect it to the old line and pull it

I thought maybe if I knew the length I needed, I could get a rubber one made with the ends I need. This is the first time I wish I had a "C" channel trailer.

I tried the connecting the old and new to pull thru, the MFI trailer I had just wouldn't work. I know the original was pulled thru when it was built. The holes the brake line went in were way too small for a fitting to go into and the one by the axles would have been a 90 degree bend, close radius. I gave up. Good luck

You can use rubber hose with swaged fittings or stainless hose with swaged fittings.
My hardline came out in 5 rusted up pieces and I fished a new one through in about 10 mins. My trailer is a MFI

Re: What is the best way to replace my brake lines? (OneBadBass)

I'm thrilled to have brakes. It's real nice when we hook the boat to our Safari van for vacations with a full load. Or when my bud pulls it with a mini blazer... Also saves brake wear on the tow vehicle.

I have had many boats/trailers w/o brakes and always wish I had them. I can sure stop in an emergency if I need too, unlike w/o brakes... Infact the law here states anything over 2000 lb trailer needs brakes if I'm not mistaken.

I will never own a baseboard trailer without brakes. trust me it only takes one time of jackknifing and seeing you boat go flying thru the air....

as others have stated u need rubber lines that are rated for brake use. most are short length. I would try to fish solid line thru. worst case u can cut access holes in the tube to help get it thru.

    Got it and replied...

I replaced the bad brake line inside the tube and bled a ton of air out.... $20 for 25ft of 3/16 at Auto Zone and barrowed their double flare kit. Not too bad of a job. It took about 21 ft of line to replace it.

    I was wrong.. It's 3000 lbs

Here are all the states brake laws... Never saw them enforced though.
