Before anyone buys a new 250 ProXS...........

BE SURE to check with your dealer and MAKE SURE what engine you are getting. Mercury has changed the 250 line up.

The new 250 ProXS has the Verado gearcase, which will cause problems on a Bullet. The only difference in the 3 engines are the gearcases, warranty, and decals.

250 ProXS- 1.75 Verado gearcase (65-80 mph) 3 year warranty, is eligible for promotional warranties.

250XS- 1.75 Torque Master lower unit, (80-90 mph) 3 year warranty, eligible for promotional warranties

250 Sport XS- 1.75 or 1.62 Sportmaster, 2 year warranty, NOT eligible for promotional warranties.

I know of one boat already that ordered a 250 Pro XS and they couldnt figure out why it wouldnt run right and come to find out it had the Verado gearcase on it. This kind of crap makes me wonder about the marketing guru's at Mother Merc. (bangs head into desk)

Yep. This was also released in the 3.0L Merc HP Forum.

To me I see the Racing Division future being focused on sterndrive and related items and nothing but lower-units and props for the outboards

Makes me wonder why they're going with that Verado gearcase, were they having problems with the torque master?

They are still there, just had to refocus on what they are doing. I would like to be a fly on the wall to see what they have done with the 4 cylinder Verado.

No problems with the TorqueMaster, I think they are just trying to streamline the production line. I am guessing the the regular 3.0 gearcase will eventually go away. Thsi way they can have one lower unit for the Verado and the 3.0 2 strokes.

A 6400 rpm 225-235hp 4 cyl Verado with a Sporty option would be acceptable for a some of our bassers.
It would be cool if they went that direction but I just have a bad feeling for the HP Outboards

Have you seen the cav plate on the 350sci Verado Marty? Talk about built like a TANK!
