    Prop suggestions - 21XDC 250XB

A buddy of mine just bought a 2000 21xdc 14" setback with a stock 250 XB. The lower is a newer torque master with 1.87 gears instead of 1.75's and the top water holes plugged. The prop that is on it now is a 26 Trophy and he is looking for a good all around prop in a bigger pitch. Any suggestions where to start with the 1.87 gears on this boat?? I was thinking maybe something between 29 and 31 Tempest, Hydromotive Quad, Turbo, Performer, ProET, etc.?????

    Thanks,
    Trey

What does he run with the 26 Trophy? Is this his first Bullet??

He may want to get some seat time before he playes with props..

My first thought on a prop would be a 30 Bravo with at least one set of PVS holes or a 28 performer 4, also a 28 TXP OT4..

The best thing he can do is get to a gathering or rally and try as many different props as he can before buying!!

I think if he goes with a bravo he'll need a 30P with the 1.87 gears. I could spin my 28 bravo with 1.75 gears to 6150 almost to the rev limiter on that motor.

Todd is probably right on about the 28 bravo ( I edited my original post) heck ya might need a 32 if it is a good running boat and motor combo..

the Performer and TXP are pretty stiff props.. Like I said ya need to try what ever you can get your hands on to see how they do on your particular rig..

A buddy of mine had a 21XD with a 250XB/TM(1.75's). He could turn a 30P Bravo pretty good but needed a 28P to fish with loaded. Id say a 30P Bravo would do good on that set up

I would stay away from the Tempest. I had one that I loved on my setup but it took alot of work to get it to run like it did. Stick with a good 4 blade there are alway a few floating around on hear that people have spent money on already.

This is his first Bullet and he is still learning that particular boat and gonna keep the 26 trophy on it for a little while to get the hang of it, but that prop isn't going to hold him down very long and he just wants to keep his eye out for another prop. He has some experience playing with streams and allisons that friends have so he has the feel of how to drive a pad boat. That prop gets on the limiter pretty quickly with those gears i'm guessing low to mid 70's as he hasn't put his gps in the boat yet.

I heard good things about the hydromotive quads, the bravos, and the turbos on bullets. Are you talking about the older bravo props or the new ones?? I have heard the diameter is different on those props. I just didn't know the pros and cons of the different props for his setup. He doesn't have low water pick up on the T-master so I was skeptical about pointing him toward a performer as chopper props like to run on top of the water.

Thanks for the quick response guys any suggestions are welcomed,

    Trey

All the Bravos are great the older ones with the strait veins are thinner and a little faster. You can have a newer one worked to run just as good if not better. The Bravos are a big diameter I think 15 1/4" but it might just be 15".

    Re: Prop suggestions - 21XDC 250XB

I'm guessing it would be a good idea to keep an eye out for a bravo 1 or a txp ot-4 to start with from the suggestions I recieved. You guys suggested trying a 30 pitch bravo, what pitch would be equivalent in the txp ot-4?? I was thinking 29 or 30 but I don't know much about those props. Also I read somewhere that the vent holes needed to be drilled larger on the ot-4 for hole shot.

    Thanks

My 26 in. txp 0t-4 Is the best holeshot Prop I've tried on mine. It has no vent holes st all,so I suggetst running it before drilling the holes.

With the 1.87 gears its going to be hard to find a prop that works.
It might be worthwile to shange to 1.75 or like i got 1.62

Do they have rehab for this addiction, cause I need to go!!!!!!!!!!!

It should hole shot like a rocket with those gears! You should be able to make it run pretty good once you get the right pitch prop.

    Re: Prop suggestions - 21XDC 250XB

We went out in the boat last weekend and played with the boat. The 26 trophy was not nearly enough wheel, with 2 people the boat would just get to the point where it wanted to lift when it pegged out. My buddy ordered a 28 txp ot-4 from Billy Palmer at Hopkinsville Marine in Kentucky. He was a great guy to deal with and had a good stock of turbo props and gave the best price we found anywhere. Ordered the prop at around 4 o'clock monday evening and he drilled the pvs holes and shipped it out before 6 that evening so my buddy would have the prop by the weekend. If anybody needs a turbo prop just give him a call and he'll hook you up. His number is 270-348-1385

We're going fishing tommorrow and going to try the prop out and play with differents pvs plugs. Hopefully this one will be a good starting point for a fishing prop and he can try to pick up a top end prop at some point.

    Thank yall for your help
