New Bullet 20XRD on order. Looking for prop

Hi, I'm new to the forum but I've been a big fan of Bullet boats for a very long time. I'm about to own my first Bullet, a 20XRD with a Mercury 250XS. The boat is on order, so I'm looking for advice on a prop (Brand and pitch). One for fishing and one for top speed.
    Thanks,

Well man i am no expert, i am in the trial phases myself but i have a 20DC with a 225ProXS and 1.62 Sporty. And i am running a 26 TXP-OT4 for fishing. It is amazing as compared to any other prop i have ran. The holeshot is un touchable by anything else.
I have tried 28ET, 26 Trophy, 27 Trophy. But this is by far the best.

I would however like to still try a Bullet Cut Performer 4, Drag 4, and Bravo 1.

I would recomend definately trying a 28TXP if you are running 1.62 gears!
And Mark Croxton does great work, my 26OT4 and 27 Trophy were both B&B by Mark.

Mark, welcome to the board!! Are you getting the 1.62 sporty (recomended for the speeds she will run)?? If ya are I would recomend a 28 Bravo with the ML Dual PVS holes worked by Mark Croxton for fishing and all around use..

A Performance propeller 28 to 30 pitch Bullet Cut performer fine tuned for speed.. Mind you these are just guestimations, all rigs, and motors are different, but these have worked for some..

Congrats on the new rig. Do not listen to what this guy is saying... Its no good
    info

what your gunna want to look for is a 28" Bravo worked by Croxton. Put dual ML PVS holes in it and it will be a good all around fishing and runnig prop.

For top end a Performance Propeller such as a performer 4 in a 28" to 30" bullet cut will be a good prop to try. I suggest even a 28" or 30" Pro-ET as well.

Congrats on the new rig. Stick around, there is alot of knowledge to be learned here and can save you time and troubles.

As you may be able to tell there is some friendly leg pullin around here as
    well.

Honestly a Bravo worked by Croxton is a pretty safe bet. They have been proven time and time again. then once you get that you can play the top end game

Try lightening or Pro ET for out of the box fun Call Mercury Racing they are pretty good @ setting you up, these guys on here have allot of experience, but more than likely your dealer is going to have a account with Mercury and that will be your best bet. Mercury racing props ..................Lab Finish is the way to go......................but on the other hand if you have the time and extra money to throw down having on of these other props listed above worked is also an option all in all, it depends on how much you want to spend............When I bought mine I put all I had into the down payment...........so I was stuck with a Trophy plus, since then Mercury Warrantied it and gave me a 28 Pro ET. Trophies are BAD about throwing blades thats why Mercury recently dropped the horse power rating to 225 Max for the trophies.............You picked A good sight to ask there is allot of highly respected folks on here as you will soon learn......................and hey don't forget to ask Lou about his floor plates, because if the Dealer screws your Hot foot to the floor it will pull off @ the most inconvenient time (Mine during a Tournament) It is ruff to drive with two feet one holding the pedal and the other pushing it. Good luck and Best wishes.....................P.S. take the time to Learn how to drive it before you give it He!!

Re: New Bullet 20XRD on order. Looking for prop (Yellow21xdc)

Thanks guys for all the recommendations. I was reading the thread on prop test on a 20XD with a 250XS and noticed where the performer IV ran the best. I see that largemouthlou recommended the performer III for speed. I realize that just because the performer IV ran the best speed on that setup doesn't mean it will be the best for my setup. It looks like with all the props tested, the 30" ran the best. Mercury didn't have the Pro ET to try only the Lightning ET which didn't put up the numbers like the performer IV. Would like to know how the Pro ET would have matched up against the performer IV. Since I'm getting my boat through a dealer and I will probably get a Mercury prop, do you guys think I should talk to them to see if I can get a Pro ET?
    Thanks, Mark

Re: New Bullet 20XRD on order. Looking for prop (mbrien)

I have learned that a dealer usually puts a prop allowance in the cost of the boat if you are buying a boat/motor combo. Usually its 400-500 bucks depending on application but I would say those numbers are close for yours. Your dealer should be willing to take that money and purchase a prop from any manufacturer. Either way, the cost of a Pro-ET and a Performer 3 or 4 is gunne be more then that allowance so you will be money out of pocket.

If I am wrong I am sure I will be corrected

Re: New Bullet 20XRD on order. Looking for prop (Hydrilla)

Thanks Hydrilla for that information. I don't mind spending a little more to get the right prop the first time instead of getting a prop that the dealer puts on and then I have to go out a buy a Pro-ET or Performer 3 or 4. I would lose money that way. Would you recommend the Pro-ET or Performer 3 or 4?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Re: New Bullet 20XRD on order. Looking for prop (mbrien)

I have an '05 20 XDC with 250XS. The absolute best fishing prop is a 28 Bravo with dual PVS holes or 1 1/8 inch vent holes. I have ran both and could not tell a whole lot of difference. It was 0.2 seconds on the stop watch for holeshot with the advantage to the dual PVS. For top end, the 30 uncut Performer 3 has been the best. The ET cut propelers have way to much slip with the big 3.o liter on the back. If after you get your boat and you want to try some props, let me know as I am not far from you being in central LA.

Thank you very much for the offer Specularius! Can you tell me what speed you were able to achieve with the 30 uncut Performer 3?

Re: New Bullet 20XRD on order. Looking for prop (Specularius)

Been running a 28 Pitch Pro ET Lab finish on my 250XS since the prop came out.............Carries a load good, hole shot is untouched, top speed is great.......86.2, 21xdc................ The only time the ET slips is on hole shot..............it allows your motor to reach 5000 RPM before it grabs water and launches you out of the hole.......................It is one of the only props that I have run that you can mash the gas and don't have to worry about feathering the throttle on take off due to prop slippage.................I have ran the Trophy Plus, Tempest, and the Bravo.....................................You have a Lite Fast Boat run what you can don't settle for a Trophy,Tempest, or Bravo in my eyes those are heavy boat props........I.E. Legends, Champs, Rangers all run them...............................Run the Racing props that carry your desired load, you wont be disappointed I have not run the performer that Lou is talking about but I am anxious to do so. Good Luck and Best wishes on what you deside
