Anyone ever replaced their tilt and trim seals? Been searching online and does not seem to be that bad of a job. I have one of them leaking fluid and my motor goes all the way down after about 30 min. Only problem i see people having is taking the caps off if you do not have the correct tool. Any tips would be appreciated. Also going to have to replace a seal on hyd steering cylinder at motor. thanks
You will need the tool to remove the cap, other than that it isn't bad. Check the rods and see if they are mushroomed on the outer ends, that is often the cause of the leaking seals. The motor leaking down may not be fixed by replacing the seals.
On the hyd steering cylinder, the kit to repair it comes with the tool to remove the end caps so that is no problem.
Mine have been leaking, But i dont see how i could get the caps off "and Back on right" because my post are Mushroomed as mentioned above, i just keep Filling it back up and going fishin. Dont want no shop time!
use a punch and hammer and they will unscrew,did mine but had to change whole top cyclinder cap to findley get it to stop.$70.00 for cap plus seals.
