I hate to start this but.

which do you prefer, A 150 Yamaha HPDI or the Mercury 150 Pro xs?
Which one do you think is more reliable?
What about a 4 stroke on a bass boat?

If i was buying a 150 it would be a Yamaha 4 stroke and would not even think twice about it. JMO!

The Sportsman show had a Ranger z118 loaded with a 150 pro xs for $34900.

They also had an 18.5 stratos with a 115 4 stroke for $20,000. I liked that boat because it was real wide for an 18'. , but I was hoping for a 150.

Don't forget that Stanga, a member of these boards, sells new and used boats at Cabelas.

I think both are good motors IMO. The Merc will get better gas mileage, but other than that, they are pretty equal. If Yamaha was making the SHO in a 150, then no doubt I would rather have it.

Both are good mota's , I would buy the one I got the best deal , but would lean a lil toward the Merc cuz itll probably be 1 or 2 mph faster !!!!

This would not carry any resale due to being underpowered FYI

The dealer would probably upgrade to a 150 for 3 or 4 thousand.

Are you looking at the 186XT or the 285XL? The 186XT is an 18'9 boat and is only rated for a 115. You would need to go to the 285XL to get the 150 in a Stratos. Remember, both Mercury and Yamaha are running the 5 year warranty till March 31.

the 186xt is not your typical pad bassboat so it doesn't require a whole lot of HP, and it doesn't have a whole lot of bells and whistles.
