I use this engine apprximately 30 times a year. for 15 of those days, It runs very hard in my opinion, towing Wake borders, tubers etc. pretty much all day, fishing in the AM and PM. Run at least one tank of gas per day. in addition the other 15 days are full fishing days on Lake Barkley which I do like to cover a fair amount of water typically running 3/4 of a tank of gas or more per day.
My question is this: With type of useage, what would you recomend for the follwing maintenance?
Here is what I have and have been doing and thinking:
Water pump and Impeller Kit: every 3 years
Remove and check prop and grease all fittings: Every year
Flush the motor: once per year
Drain and replace the lower unit gearcase lube: Every year
Spark Plugs: Every 3 years
Anything else I should be doing on a regular baisis?
What do you think of the time intervals I am using?
Bought this boat and motor used in 2008 and had it completely looked at buy the good folks at Jet A Marina and had vitrtually all of the above done and had them check and clean the poppit valve as well. It Has been running PERFECTLY. I use Marine Stabil and sea foam in every tank. And just found out recently that the Barkley State Park Marina, does NOT have ethanol in their fuel.(which I thought they did becuase it was a BP) and that is the only place I fuel up.
I want this motor too last as long as possible so any advice would be most appreciated.
and oh yea.......Happy Thanksgiving to all.
