    Bad Bandit Cranks

Anyone ever have a problem with the bills breaking on their crankbaits? I broke 3 new bandit bills off in the past week.

Not very often and i always have one on deck. The ones i break are due to a lack of casting skills.

I've broken Bandits,H2O's, ans Bombers all by slapping the water with them trying to free grass so I would say my fault. I broke 3 Bombers in a row a few trips back doing this you think I would learn...

The only other time I have broke a bill was if I hit a dock or piling with a poor cast.

I find the KVD's to be bad about breaking bills. I've broke at least 5 by slapping grass off. Do it with all other cranks and never have that problem? Guess I need to simmer down with my slaps!!!

I have a few of the KVD's, one of those gotta try em lures. I have gone back to the bandits. Other than the mentioned "user errors" no problems with them. Didn't have any success with the KVD's. Probably all in the head. For cranks and spinnerbaits its bandits and humdingers for me.

I thought slapping the water was hard on the knot, didn't think it would hurt the bill. I guess if they were built to last you wouldn't need to keep buying them. Also, if your not banging them off something your not fishing them right.

The hooks that come on those KVD Lures are cheap. They seem to bend and break very easily.

    Re: Bad Bandit Cranks (fritz20)

The H20 baits come with VMC hooks which I have not seen the need to replace. Bandit hooks are decent and Bomber uses those soft brazed looking hooks that bend easily but even those are super sharp.

I have been kicking around the idea of changing all my trebles to those Mustad KVD hooks but ive personally never had much of a problem with stock hooks.

I've never had a problem with bandits, only DTs. Slapping them on the water does weaken the bill though.

That is because you are usually dragging the boat over to wherever you got it hung up.

And from one of his last post, in his own words........he should be throwing a spinner bait like Bump.

    Re: Bad Bandit Cranks (jlsch1)

A couple of years ago Bandit had this problem. I have had them cracking for the past year. At first I thought it was just a bad batch, but I have picked them up in several stores across north and central Louisiana with the same problem. Before I sent some back to Bandit and they sent new baits. I have had some 200's crack after one or two cast after hitting nothing but water. I have been going to normans and lucky craft with good service. I have not had good service out of Bandits but they do catch fish.
