    Winter lures

I was wondering if I could get a few suggestions for great winter lures. Types, colors, locations for any particulars, etc. thanks

Jig, spinnerbait, jerkbait. I have heard these lures catch fish... Couldn't tell you for sure

    So, you recommend a jig
    And I agree

I've never fished a jig before....what style rod (heavy, med.) would one use? Braid or mono?

Ok. I see everyone reccomends a jig. That would be my guess also. And lipless crank which I never had any luck on. So what are some good colors for the river areas (blind, amite, etc.) ? And what type of trailer do y'all like to use on the jig? I also have never fished a jIg but I will be. Thanks for all the replies.

    Re: Winter lures (skoty422)

Over the last 10 years I go to a drop shot rig if the water is really cold and the bass have lock-jaw. I reckon I've caught 10 to 1 with a drop shot in bad conditions versus a jig or most other lures. The critical factor with the drop shot is using subtle plastics, and then keeping the lure in one place and not really moving it away from the strike zone...just kinda shaking the line to add movement to the lure. Works for me.

favoite 2 baits in the winter are a bandit 200 series and a jig. Some days the fish will want other stuff but the majority will be caught on these.

skoty, these guys are either leaving out lots of important points/details about each of these recommended presentations in winter b/c they don't know them or they are doing it on purpose for you to learn for yourself or something like that......Maybe it's a secret...idk
I would not expect to be successful with any of these suggestions unless you are familiar with how they apply to winter fishing.
skeet22 left some details out of his recommendation but I'm guessing that one was on purpose! ;)

You don't really seem to be adding to the pot either.
