    SHO Problems and Manufacturer Date

I wonder if there is a relationship?

Those who have had major problems, please post your manufacturer date and let's see if there is a common issue here!

Re: SHO Problems and Manufacturer Date (falcooon)

I can see where there might be a possibilty of that but then how do you explain the guys that have had more than one powerhead failure. I got 50 hours on mine oil level still rising very slightly. Prod date 6-10 and its number 928. No other problems.

Re: SHO Problems and Manufacturer Date (stratos201evolution)

    09/2010

Made oil like mad from hour 0-10. Production was slower from hour 10-15. 20+ hours now and it seems to have stopped rising. Everything is still in tact. On my 4th batch of oil and she is holding steady between the marks.

Re: SHO Problems and Manufacturer Date (microsalmo)

I have motor number 90 made in late 2009 and as this date it has about 64 trouble free hours. It has only had some updates along with the 20 hour service. So far so good. Larry Brumley

My motor was made 6-10 #1180 fuel contamination of oil to 30 hrs. It has been changed 3 times twice paid for by me @ $200.00.

Re: SHO Problems and Manufacturer Date (offduty)

I would like everyone to please submit in a reply which questions they would like to have in a survey.

    For example.

What year was your engine manufactured.
At what RPM's do you mostly run your engine.
Would you say you idle more than 25% of the time.
    Have you experienced "making oil"
How many times have you changed the oil in the first 6 months.
Would you by another SHO engine.
Does your engine screech, squeak, or make abnormal noises during operation.

Please list any questions you would like on a survey. I will be creating an online survey to live on Monday October 3, 2011. I intend to notify as many as I can, through as many modes of media as I can in order to get as many responses as possible.
I believe it is up to us to satisfy our own curiosities. Who knows, maybe Yamaha will find it helpful.
    All help is greatly appreciated.

I have #2000 made in January 2011. I have 9.9 hours on the clock now. No problems or oil dilution.

Re: SHO Problems and Manufacturer Date (vtrick)

If that means there are 2000 SHO's out there...that's a lot of engines compared to the problems we have seen here.

However, it don't matter to those who have the grief and I truly feel for them. I hope all will get the customer service they deserve and get their happiness back!

Good Luck to all of us... (Yes, I own a 250 ShO and have a vested interest in all of this!)
