Anyone on here fish False River? From what I hear it's been tough lately. I know to try the the North and South flats. But, what about the docks? Plastics or crankbaits? Texas or Carolina rig?

Summer we have always had good luck early in the morning and late in the evening fishing seawalls with white lunker lures and white hummdinger spinnerbaits. Other than that I struggle at False River.

What the heck is a dock?I would fish the seawalls early in the morning when the shad are running then fish crankbaits and carolina rigs around the piers. If you have some tops marked in the flats, I would try carolina and texas rigs there.
Tops have been crap for almost a year now. Sure, you can have a good day or two, but as a whole, they are shot. The river as a whole is going down very, very fast.
I appreciate the tips. I heard the fishing is tough, but I'll be able to fish it quite often being I live on it for now.

Yeah, I know. I'll just have to get ole Ken Vosburg to show me around. I'm sure some guys on here know that name. He used to kick some butt out here back in the day. Just google his name and read the article Louisiana Sportsman wrote about him back in 2006. But.......that was years ago and the consensus is that this place does suck now!!
We will be spending the weekend at a friends camp July 22nd-24th at False River and I am going to fish for sure no matter how bad it sucks.

Chad, yeah......Ken has told me that it's pretty tough. I'll be happy if I just catch a darn bass every now and then.
I'm fishing it Friday evening... its my first time and I'm just in for the day. Any suggestions? Are there any stumps or logs anywhere that I need to avoid hitting

No stumps nor logs anywhere except for in canal. You still don't need to worry to much about them then. Im not a big fan of False River myself. Although I did win a TX there back in February. Fished the community holes with everyone else and ended with 15lbs..
Should say its the worst lake the world to ski on the keep the boat traffic down.

It's terrible I mean only place in the state I have caught 4 over 8, 2 over 9 and 2 over 10
Guess there's still a few in there cause the ones I didn't mount were released. Caught a 8 and a 9 this time last year.
