Went look at the spillway today

Drove to Morgan City today and went look across the levee at Russo's landing. That is the place we had the two prop test days last year. The water is up to the levee. Everything is under water. Can't tell where the slip is. The water is up to the house trailer. You can see it on the news, but it doesn't seem real until you see it in person. for them.

Re: Went look at the spillway today (BARRY J)

Went to take my dad Sat to try to see if you could look from the levee at the camp at Old River since he couldn't see it before his heart surgery.
I have never seen Morganza that high.
Bad part is we missed hitting a deer.
I saw a deer running across LA 1 which I went into the other lane to miss it.
Looked in my rear view mirror and it looked like the car behind hit the deer couldn't tell.

Calumet cut was rolling yesterday also. When do they expect it to crest? Hadn't been watching the news.

Watching the news now. People in Butte Larose are complaining that they had to evacuate and they didn't flood.

My brother in laws father lives in Atchafalya Acres and he complaining that they made people panic. If he would have saw the water going through Morganza I think he would have changed his tune quickly. It is coming hopefully it will not be as bad as they say.

My personal opinion, Bobby jindal did what he had to do and what he needed to do. We didnt need another katrina. I understand the frustration from people that packed up all of there stuff so it wouldnt flood but hell, thats what we all wanted in the first place. When people say, "hope for the best, but prepare for the worst", thats what they want to happen. They want to prepare but hope he doenst happen and as of now, they havent flooded. Bobby jindal got the CORPS down here and they prepared the hell out of this place and i think they did a damn good job at it. Instead sitting back and collectiing a check like the rest of the politicians, he got out there and was all over the basin making sure things were getting done. From what i have seen and read personally, i think they did a damn good job and i hope he doesnt go in vane becuase he tried to prepare everyone for a flood that could have easily happened and still could

I also heard a second hand report today that some muddy water is coming through flat lake. Hope it is accurate and flushes out the middle of the spillway.
