    Should be back in business.

WASHINGTON – Amid growing public unhappiness over gas prices, President Barack Obama is directing his administration to ramp up U.S. oil production by extending existing leases in the Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska's coast and holding more frequent lease sales in a federal petroleum reserve in Alaska. But the moves won't calm spiraling prices at the pump any time soon.

If you read very closely this is his energy plan for 2012. Election year of course. They will say and do almost anything to get a vote.

Ramping up production won't do shit if you can't drill new wells. It sounds good to the rest of the nation who has no clue about the industry. He's still a moron.

NORMALLY when new leases are puchased, it means new drilling. With DC the way it is, though, it may just be a slight of hand. No permits= no drilling.

Until I see drilling permits being issued like they were before 2010, all the talk in Washington is BS. They are telling the general public what they want to hear. You and I know that ramping up production without drilling will just increase the price that much faster. A well just doesn't keep producing because Obama says so. If the mf'er dies out, guess what, it's over.....and without new wells to replace it, we'll be at $6 a gallon in no time. Hopefully the rest of the country can figure out he's blowing smoke up their ass.

DING DING Winner Winner...Don't you just get a fuzzy feeling...
The terms up here on the hill (yes up this far) is strictly extending the EXISTING leases like it going to make a difference...Most do not understand the difference between drilling and production and the people around these parts think its doing something

Totally agree You can lease everything available but no permits = no drilling. Scary part is most people not associated with the oil business do not understand. I talked with several people not in the oil business that thought all was well when the moratorium was lifted---NOT!!!
