2005 HPDI Vmax On the phone with Yamaha

Hi,

I am the 2nd owner of my 250 outboard. I have trying to find out if the oil pump update has been done. I called Yamaha today and found out it has been done. Were there major problems with the original? What did the update do?

Also, anyone close to Albany, NY who would want to help me out with some filter changes? I would rather give money to a fellow member then a shop. No shops here I really trust, at least none I have found as of yet.

Yes there were. The update doubled what you will spend for 2 stroke oil.

Tony - what number did you call for Yamaha. I just bought a 2005 as well, and want to do the same thing. Did you just give them the serial number?

You can give them the serial number and they'll tell you if the update has been done. You can also check on the side of the pump and there's a code. I'd have to search for it but somewhere on here (from a long long time ago) there's a post that lists what codes were affected so you can see if it was updated or not.

On my old 225 the prior owners dealer surprisingly hadn't informed yamaha that the pump was changed but i verified with yamaha the code on the pump to ensure it was the updated version.

Look on your pump and use this as a reference


VZ200, VZ225, Z250 and LZ250
60V10, 60V11 or 60V12 gets replaced with a 60V13

VZ250
60V00, 60V01 or 60V02 gets replaced with a 60V03

VZ300, Z300 and LZ300
6D000, 6D001, 6D002 or 6D003 gets replaced with a 6D004
