Bought new Lews baitcast reel today and tearing it apart to check it out

I was in security sporting goods in Alexandria getting bulk worms to make some boxes for friends for x-mas gifts and saw new lews baitcasting speed spool.

I love speed spools and fixed my friends dad shimano made speed spools when Favrot in Baton Rouge couldn't fix them. He probably didn't want to put the hours in it which it took some time. Again I fixed reels to get me through college years ago when real solid reels were made. I can supertune just really don't mess with reels anymore due to everybody and cousins in it and I take my work seriously.

So far I like the $99 ss1s small, feels solid, and throws line far with ease. Called company to get backup parts and inquire about support got voice mail. Checked website looks like former buyer at basspro and bought name and trying to bring back speed spools in 2011.

I did get to load up reel with 10wt to try ultimate test cast light line with light lure rebel 1" minnow and it impressed me over supertuned curado 100 series.

Again I will tear it down tommorrow check parts and gears to see if its cheap or solid like a tank. True test.

Yea let us know what you find, My pops loves Lews and still fishes with one from the 1800s or somthing! I was thinkin bout gettin him one of those new ones for christmas.

I was up in the area, so I stopped by.

Been to Pineville Marine and that other baitstore on the hwy going to Jena all are unique in their own way.

I agree Security limited if it wasn't for the bulk worms or bagley crankbaits I wouldn't walk in there .08 cents for small worms (few places bass like downsized lures) and .10 cents for the large 10" bulk worms. They big ones come in handy in areas where they got big bass and 100 people fishing same 8" stuff.

Use to pour my own 10" but the cost of plastic these days not worth it.
Now little ones I pour my own just been lazy lately.

Reel I got was SS1S which is 5.4:1 ratio.

They have the speed spool series all ratios (5.4:1, 6.4:1, 7.1:1)
Tournament speed spool series which I got radar up on this one (6.4:1, 7.1:1)

Website says similar model to old speed spools should be in works for 2011.

I was in there a couple days ago too. Also good for ammo you cant get at Academy. Academy coming was a good thing though cause it got there price down on alot of stuff, but def not all of it. You got me on the Jena hwy store though.
