I'm sure it's safe, but you're probably just as well off running 87 octane with ringfree and blue stabil.

Have been running the ring free and marine stabil sence day one, just would like to stay away from ethynol if possiable. Talk to lots of people with carb problems using ethynol laced fuel... I need this motor to last long time.

Hi all...I have the same motor,,a very good mechanic suggested using 89 octane for the fact of the volatility break down of the fuels even after sitting a short time between uses....good or bad advise I haven't had any problems with the motor.

What does he mean by "volatility breakdown"? Is he saying that 89 octane separates and breaks down slower than 87 octane?

Yes headhigh...the 87 octane breaks down leaving it less "potent" for lack of a better word....so after a while your fuel has less octane...thats the purpose of using the higher octanes.
