Ya'll need to wake up and read the paper. It is part of the Salvador Wildlife Management Area and closed to give the duck hunters a shot without shooting a fisherman. And probably to give the fish time to spawn.

I just found it.. the tank ponds are listed as "Limited access"...

    from the LDWF website....

    Limited Access Area: No internal
    combustion engines allowed from
    September through January. See
    WMA map for specific location.

    and the map shows

    2 things Barry.

#1.. They ought to have a sign at the most popular launches in the area letting people know that the Tank Ponds are off limits.

#2.. It's been in effect for a month already and this is the first I hear of it. I get the paper every day and I watch the news every day. This is something that people need to know so that they don't get a piece of paper from the GW.

I agree, it should be posted. I remember reading about it in the paper a few months ago.

I saw in the LA sportsman back in May that they were talking about it, but I never saw anything that said they had adopted it.

I am waiting on a call back from the New Orleans DWF office. I read where trolling motors are still allowed, and I want to ask them if you can go in there with a bass boat as long as you dont start the outboard.

I also heard it was off limits so the fish can stack back up for the classic. So the pros would have some fish to catch.

So , does that mean we cant go behind the sea wall at all , or can we just not go behind the lil island ? This could be a good thing for our fishery if it sticks for awhile !!!!
