    03 200 YAMAHA OX66

Look guys I took my motor in for its yearly check up and just asked them to change the water pump, check compressing, change lower unit oil, check fuel system, and repair leaking o-ring on hydraulic steering. Now when I get back I notice the water pressure guage is now stuck on 20 lbs. and the piss stream looks ok it idles good but if you put it in gear and just ease around it'll run hot within 100 yds. but it runs on pad WOT just fine???then I missed weigh-in for the dang thing running hot and noticed it'll pump ok just ok on an idle sputters when put into gear and nothing when put into reverse!!!

Clean the pressure release valve (poppit), proly has junk in it. Check the sticky on top of the board for some pics

well I pulled the poppit valve and it was clean as a whistle, but then I pulled the water pressure gauge line at the motor and it looked like grease coming out of the fitting so I also pulled it at the gauge and blew it with an air hose and it blew a wad of grease out of it!! So i'm wondering if they didn't grease the pump housing or something and have now clogged my water pick-up I know it ruined my pressure guage its stuck on 20lbs.

When I install water pump impellars I do use a grease to aid in install. But I use a grease from Evinrude call Moly Lube which is a very light grease that washes away easily and I don't glob it in either. I'm betting your mechanic used a thick marine grade grease that doesn't wash away to easily. I'd take the motor back and have them replace the guage at their expense for doing a lousy job.
