I heard there were a few boats that got tore up in Flat Lake. Trying to figure out what they hit. Any info on this. I've been across there a thousand times and its one of the few places I never hit anything.

There are 2 rows of stumps that run across Flat Lake at a angle. When the water is low sometimes you can see them. That's why the tall pilings were put there so people would know where to run. First time my uncle seen the stumps it scared the chit outta him. He had been running all around F L and never hit anything. Now he doesn't even go in the lake anymoreSo be carefull if you run the lake and are not sure where the stump rows are.
Isn't the stump row an old railroad bridge?
it was some kind of bridge used for logging
I guess I missed them Sunday.
I know about the pilings, trying to find out where in the lake the boats had issues. I have not seen the pilings in years and go there at least twice a month.
I was told that they were old pilings left over from an old railroad from back in the logging days. I'll ask my podna again tomorrow.

That's what I have been told too Jeff. There is also some old pilings in the back of Bay Wallace from a railroad bridge.
I've only been to Bay Wallace once. Never heard about those pilings but not surprised.
Jeff
They way in the back on the right. Not gonna hit them when running in the bay.
Barry how did your boat run yesterday? Sorry to get off topic.
Jeff
OK Ran my old TRO 4 to 84 something and Darby's TXP to 83 something. Waiting to hear from Hydromotive. Want to swap the 26 Quad 4OT for a 25. The 26 Hydromotive ran almost 87 the other day, but only 6900 rpm. Took the hydraulic jackplate off and it rides a lot better

From what I herd at the weigh-in on Saturday, 8 boats hit a log between Doirons and six mile while crossing Flat Lake. The team that won second place for the tournament was the boat that was hit by another boat. The guy said that when he hit the log his Bass Cat kicked to the side and the boat behind him ran over the back of his boat, hitting the motor cover. No one was injured.

Damn, sounds like it could have been bad. Glad no one was injured.

There is a channel in flat lake when you enter it...it is the only place I run in the lake...if you veer off the channel you are in 1-2' of water this time of yr. Besides, there is so much grass in flat lake right now, you cant see chit!!!

That's scary. I knew about the pilings, but sounds like there's some other stuff we need to look out for.
thats what I am trying to find out. The channel is narrow for the first few hundred yards coming out of the intracoastal pass, wondering if they got caught up in the junk on the sides of that channel or hit something else. also looks like the path through the grass is a little too far inside, probably from the higher water. The channel going into Dog Island pass is also narrow with some trash on the sides. I have never had a problem with the pilings but i run the north part of the lake where they are deeper. when we used to come from russos, we went through the tall pilings. Don't know if the tall pilings are still there, haven't been through that part of the lake in years. I know one of the guys and may be able to find out the location today. Hope its just something caught in the grass.
the channel is a BEE LINE from the entrance of the lake to dog island pass![]()
Also, BEWARE there is a LOG that stretches on the right side where flat lake goes into bear bayou!Came close many time to hitting it in wavy conditions!
