    200 hpdi problems

Run my boat today for the first time in a while. I put it up in early oct. I went to run it today and had about a half of tank of gas so I put some new gas in this morning to try and help it out. Just to let you know I put stabil in every time I put gas in the boat. Every thing started off pretty good boat cranked up sounded good I let her warm up for a while and took off. Running about 4500-5000 rpms every thing seemed good slowed down to idled into a canal and it sounded like it was bogging down so i went to take off and it was real slugish out of the hole and wouldn't get over about 4500 rps but after 2-3 miles it cleared up and run great. Started idleing again same thing happen slow out of the hole cleared up after a while and run good. Could this be plugs or do I have some other problem. The boat run good when I put it up in Oct.

    Sounds like fuel filter problems.

Thats what I'm worried about. I got them changed last year and it cost me $500.00. I can't belive Yamaha put that many filters on a motor.

I changed mine and got all my hose 5/16 and 3/8 size from Dow Weed up in the Mercury Motor Section. Get the Primer bulb from him also.

Has anyone changed the low pressure fuel pumps on 2007 200 HPDI. If I'm looking at the drawings rite there is only (2) of them and the part# is 6E5-24410-04-00. I was looking and I think some of the older OX66 3.1 motors have (3)

You can check them easily by pulling the bolts that hold them to the block, pull them away from the block, then pump the fuel bulb. If you see any fuel escaping, change the pump or put a diaphram in it. These pumps are kinda bad about causing problems. There are only 2 on the HPDI.

Sounds more like the o2 sensor not functioning properly

Don't think you have to worry about the o2 sensor on a HPDI.

noone ever stated if this was a 2.6 liter or 3.3 liter 200??? the only ones that ever had o2 sensors were the 2.6's. and the o2 only affects running conditions up to 1500 on these engines

Re: 200 hpdi problems (toledo freak)

i have a 2002 200 hpdi, and i had to have the o2 sensor cleaned out. the mechanic showed me what it looked like before he cleaned, man it was full of carbon. if it is too carboned up, then the air/fuel mixture will be off which is what the computer reads, and then you will experience poor gas mileage, excessive oil use, and fouled plugs....got mine cleaned up, 2 new low pressure fuel pumps, and been good ever since....oh yeah they had to do a sync and link or something because of a bulletin, my motor was idling too low

Mine is a 3.3. I think someone said they do not have 02 sensor on that motor.

Yeah, the 3.3's do not have an O2 sensor. The 2.6's DO have an O2 sensor.
