Guys, with most of the gas out there having 10% Ethonal would you run 94 octaine if it was ethonal free? I know the owners manual says to run 87 octaine fuel, but what happens if you run 94 octaine?

Some fuel does not burn off with higher above 87 octane and more carbon results. I guess itÂs a toss up of which one is the lesser of two evils. I would treat with RingFree plus and a good fuel stabilizer and run the E-10.

If you add 10% ethanol to the fuel and its still only 87 what kind of garbage did they start with? Its kind of a catch 22. You can read all about the problems that ethanol may cause but they also say using higher octane fuel promotes carbon biuld up. If it were me I would use only ethanol free fuel no matter what the octane. Always use ring free also

That would be 84 oct blend grade.
I always use ring free and stabile. Just woundering what is the lesser of the two evils? Thanks for the follow-ups.

If 93 octane is the only fuel ethanol free available I would use it instead of lower grade with ethanol but I would also increase the compression on heads to about 140 psi to ensure complete and stable burn. This will increase the lower end punch with potential of some speed gain on lighter boats and carbon build up will not be an issue.
