Brought my broken air conditioner part to Coburns this morning and asked them how much for a new one. The guy said $20 for the direct replacement. They have a universal one that sells for almost $200. So if the technician is right and the part he installed is $200, they use the universal one to save themselves some time. Doesn't matter how much it costs the customer. If it would take one hour to go to Coburns and pick up the direct replacement for $20, and they charge me $75 for an hour of labor to go get it, I'm out $95 for the part instead of $200.
Then the Ford place calls and said my sons truck is ready. One of the problems I had them check was the a/c was blowing through the defroster vent. Said it was a vacuum leak. Changed the vacuum tank and charged me $109.98. On the way home it was doing the same thing. Figured I would go back Monday morning. Then my son took the truck to town and the check engine light came on. That was another problem I wanted them to check. They changed plug wires, plugs, air and fuel filters and a DPFE sensor(whatever the hell that is). Charged me $482.45.
Monday morning I need to chew on some ass.
