I was idling out this AM and my motor made a loud clank-like noise and then started making a steady knocking-like noise. Didn't hit anything and didn't run it anymore. Just wondering what ya'lls opinion was...I have a 225 ox66.

Does it make the noise in gear or both in and out of gear?
Mine ran but sounded like a bag of hammers when it lost #2... Perhaps pull the plugs and see what state they're in. When mine went i was running full pin and when i stopped it sounded clunky...

I fear it blew or something to that nature as it is the same sound as a couple buddies I know described when theirs blew....![]()

It started making the "knocking" "clunking" noise just after one louder "clunk"....I was only idling and hadn't blasted off yet. Glad I didn't make the 10 mile run I was about to....
Well if you get some bad news about it see my engine for sale post. We can make some kinda trade I need parts. Or if you put a power head on it I want to buy you damaged one if thats the way it goes.

Thanks for the heads up....if it's blown, I may cut my losses and buy either a SHO or a used HPDI....if I do buy a different motor, I'll be parting mine out. Of course, that all depends if it is even blown.

Take a look at the plugs and that will tell you which cylinder is suspect. It was VERY obvious on my motor when i lost #2. My replacement from Hydro Tec should be here this next week or so and then i'll part out my existing hpdi.
It sucks but we've seen a few guys have issues over the past month![]()

I'm right there with you guys. I'm finishing my rebuild of mine now. I lost oil flow from the remote tank and sensor stuck and didn't sound. This is my first rebuild. It's not to bad, just time consuming.

that it's not a dropped cylinder ........ but the 150 Pro V that blew on me about 14 yrs ago did the same thing ..... except I was running about 4000rpm's when it did. There was no shutting it off ........ it just died once the water jacket instantly filled the block with water.

Sorry for the delay in the update....I've been on Lake Texoma (that place blows) for the BFL regional. Well, not sure what's going on as I did a compression test and the numbers were 101, 100, 101, 101, 100, 104 on each cylinder. Gonna take it to the shop this week sometime....![]()
Theres not a big varience in your numbers. I guess you could say thats a good sign.
