My son is off school next week and we would like to take a short vacation. Probably one or two nights. Can someone recomend a place within 3 or 4 hours of Thibodaux? Don't necessarily want to fish, just see some sights and get away.

Thanks, but I would rather camp at a Holiday Inn.
I hadn't been since I was a kid is it that bad there now? I know when we went we stayed in the chateua and we had a private pool and it was nice then. Even caught a few fish in the pond.![]()

Last time I went it was like a subdivision, too crowded for me.

Roger, I like the way you think. Is there a place to sleep on the river?
My campground experience was years ago at Lake Ramsey. My aunt and uncle had a camper. They would leave Houma on Friday afternoon and visit all weekend with everybody else that left Houma on Friday afternoon. And you better not stumble coming out the trailer or you would hit your head on the next trailer, they were stacked in there like cordwood.
Not that I know of, wish there was a place. They have marinas but don't know of a place to stay.![]()

I know it's a couple of hours more, but go catch a ball game in Houston.
Barry my wife and I like to go to the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. I know it's a little pricey but everything is under one roof. They got good night entertainment and of course the gambling if you wish. Big money man like you shouldn't have a problem throwing down the plastic. Give it a try.
Jeff
Been to Beau Rivauge a few times and liked it. Not much else for my 17 year old to do while I gamble, I'm sure not much is going on along the beach. And my wife keeps all the plastic.
I was checking out Vermillionville in Lafayette. Anybody been?
Not sure what your son might be interested in, but Vermilionville is pretty cool. Acadian Village is also nearby, as is Jungle Gardens (Avery Island), the Tabasco plant, Konriko Rice mill, ULL's campus, and plenty other things. There are also some nice hotels at decent prices in the area. Lots of other things to do, places to eat, etc.
There is a Yogi up in Mississippi that is really nice . It is right out of Jackson has a 95 acre lake that is idle only .
Chicot state park has some cabins that are really nice the fishin prolly sucks right now but the view is nice not much to do around here other wise, other than a few plantaion tours
