    Troll Motor questions

Crazy thing happened last weekend. I drop my motorguide in the water to start fishing and after about 3 casts it's making a wierd noise. Pull it up, prop fell off and sunk.

Also a prong on the male end of the troll motor plug that's on the front of the boat broke off. Need a new plug.

They sell these plugs at academy or wal mart?

Also, bought a new prop, slid it on the shaft and put the screw on, prop wouldn't spin, just the screw inside of it. What is this dummy doing wrong?

    Re: Troll Motor questions (tgravo2)

The last time I bought a plug, Southern Outdoors had them. There should be a pin that goes through the shaft and rides in a slot on the prop that keeps them turning together.

Travis look on the back of the new prop. There is a 1" long slot. That slot will line up with the missing keeper pin that goes through the prop shaft. You will need to make a trip to pick one up.

Go to peepers baits (Kevin Short web-site store) and he has an alumnium prop nut. My Motor-Guide plastic nut kept loosening while fishing. I bought one of these alumnium prop nuts and put a little blue lucite on the threads and I hadn't had any more problems.
Tgravo, you need a prop pin and line it up while putting your prop on.

I think the pin comes taped in the package. Did you throw it away?

There should be spare pins in the "Hidden compartment" on the gatormount.

Motorguides of bad about that. I had it happen a couple of times. Then I figured out I needed to check the prop nut just about every time I went fishing.
