What are the differences between these motors? Can a Series 1 be converted to a Series 2?

I understand that the Series 2 has about 20 extra horses more. It can be done but not very cost effective. Just the wiring harness is about $600, new ecu $1200 then you have to get into the internals like rods and pistons, bearings.
You want a Series 2 then go trade in your motor on one and you will me money ahead.
Just got off the phone with Yamaha. According to them.
Series II has the following:
Heat Protection coating on Pistons
Different Oil Pump
Different ECU for the mapping. Comtrols fuel and air intake.
Regular HPDI can convert oil pump
I wonder if the oil pump recall they had replaced series 1 pumps to be the same that's now found in a series 2.
Current: 2006 ~ 20i ~ 250 HPDI ~ T1-25p

That is what they told me was the case. My understanding is that the oil pump upgrade was to get more oil at mid-range levels.
Shit i never did the oil pump swap........forgot all about it a couple years ago and she still runs like a rapped ape...........![]()
