    Startron or Marine Stabil

Ive been running Seafoam and it is getting expensive. I am thinking of switching over to Marine Stabil or Startron because I can get it at a discount. Both of these products claim to also clean injectors. Does anyone know about these products? I want something that cleans carbon and acts as a fuel stabilizer that doesnt cost a fortune. I know Seafoam is good but at the mixing ratios it is expensive.

Re: Startron or Marine Stabil (ramboc)

Do you have any Atwoods in your area? Atwoods here in NE Oklahoma sells SeaFoam for $6.50/can. If you can still purchase non ethanol fuel obviously that is the way to go too, then you won't have to worry about using Stabil except for winterizing.

Buy Seafoam in 1 gallon cans at Tractor Supply for $50 a gallon. Cheapest place I have found.

If you do the math switching to ringfree or quickleen is actually cheaper. I use quickleen as i can't get ringfree easily in my area.

Just remember that startron and stabil aren't the same as seafoam and those products i mention above.

For me it's quickleen and marine stabil.

+1...but I use ringfree. Most people think that Seafoam is cheaper because it's 6-9 bucks a can but if you look at the ratio of use it's a lot more expensive. I use ringfree and Marine Stabil when I am forced to buy ethanol gas...otherwise, just ringfree.

It's my understanding that Stabil will not break up carbon like Seaform/Ringfree does.

I have been using SF and Startron and am happy with the results. If you read up on the Startron it will clean out carbon and take care of the ethanol issues. http://www.starbrite.com/sprod...=1159

I sure think i'm gonna try the startron. It says it cleans carbon and treats ethanol so that is what i'm looking for in one product. The Marine Stabil says the same thing so I may try it too.

West Marine here has Star tron additive for $14.49 for an 8 oz bottle. Is that a good deal? I have not bought any stabilizer yet but am about to.
    thanks

I think it varies....there are 3 stations around my house (that I know of) that still sell 100% gas. I buy there anytime I can but the problem is none are open 24 hours...which makes it inconvienent however I'll go the night before a trip if possible.

All of the Chevron's around here have no ethanol, but a friend just told me in the Florida area Chevron's do have it. The other thing I've been told about Chevron gas is that it has Techron in it which is supposed to be the number one ingredient in Ring Free. If ya'll are hearing different please share.

10% ethanol is everywhere here... so there's no choice you can't avoid it.
