    No 2 stokes after 2010

I am hearing a lot talk about the 2 stroke engines not being manufactured after 2010 mostly Yamaha's. Are you hearing the same?

I just can't imagine them to stop making 2 strokes, seems like they would continue due to the market and they also meet emissions requirments, so why stop now?

    Re: No 2 stokes after 2010 (oiltech09)

Only yamaha. Most of mercs two strokes are already compliant for 2012 execpt the new 200 pro xs or 200 optis. the 175 pro xs,225 and 250 pro xs are good to go. The Etecs are all good to go already for 2012. i am hearinfr rumors merc is moving everything below 200 hp to mexico which all below 100 hp are there now and that they are moving the 200 and ups from wisconsin to oklahoma to get away from the union labor. Just rumors so far but heard it from several merc dealers up north i fool with. I know brunswick has been in trouble money wise thats why they sold off motorguide for cash flow. i do here yamaha is gonna have some bad 4 strokes but wouldnt want one the first year or two. I am hearing rumors you can order a bug boat with other than ymaha motors but havent verified that either. i know some merc buddies who loved their bugs with obamas on them. This winter is probably going to show alot of changes for the industry as a hole. Some will die some will change hands and some will grow. look around at the brands with no 2010's out there yet. I aint callin names but check your local dealers not seeing them getting new floor plan models etc. i can tell you i know Bass Cat and Blazer have 2010's out already thats the only ones i have seen so far and this time last year everybodies were out.

    Re: No 2 stokes after 2010 (DOUGMCGEE188)

Doug is right. You will still be able to get a Yamaha 2 stroke thru next year, but after that, they will stop manufacturing them. I am glad Blazer has one put back for me. I have been told that Yamaha is working on some high reving, light weight 4 strokes, but I know what they have tested on the Blazer have been alot slower than a 2 stroke. The Suzuki 250 SS 4 stroke is a hoss of a motor, and it ran pretty dang good on a Blazer, the only downside to it is the gear ratio.

The Marine Industry has been hit very hard this year, like alot of others, supplier problems kept Blazer from introducing the 625 Pro Elite sooner.

    Re: No 2 stokes after 2010 (DOUGMCGEE188)

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if I was gonna have to but a new one and leave it sit in crate until ready to use it.

I think all large manufacturers are in trouble whether it is cars, trucks, boats, outboards, RV'S etc. Some of them have worst debt than others but if the trend we are in continues they will be closing doors. I also think Obama is not going to bail them out. Speaking of 2010 Cats, did you see their new console? I don't care for it..think it is just too much.

I haven't seen or heard of any 2010 trucks on the market yet either. Usually this time of the year they are showing them off on television commericals.

Triton pushed its dealer meeting back to september because there were still too many '08s and "09s on dealer lots. I know the 2010 20xs is a bad mambajamba with plenty changes. 75k-80k with options though . Earl must be high as a kite. We're bass fishermen, not movie stars.

NO WAY ON OBAMA. That cat has my jewels in a tight vise now. You do hear on the news about what he is doing to small business? I am in that piece of crap boat with water logged flotation, holes in the hull, no engine and plenty of illegal immigrants hanging on for me to get them to dry safe land.

Re: No 2 stokes after 2010 (BADAZZTRITON)

Blame that on brunswick mercury not Earl they were fine when he sold the 4 or 5 years ago. But they aint the only ones man. like i said before all big corporations suck BRP,Brunswick,Yamaha,Genmar etc. thast why when i bought new i bought a Cat from a family owned company. i still here from Rick Pierce once or twice a month and they are great folks. i think what you will see is the smaller companies like BCB,Blazer,Bullet ,Ally etc survive these tough times. i think you will see some of the big boys disapper. Customer service is a big deal to me and that was one issue i had with BRP Or lack there of. So i understand you problems with Triton but if you look at the corparate boat boards you see the same issues every where. Look at the family owned boat boards you dont see the issues as much or as often.
