    Lodging Question - Red River

Any good boater friendly places to stay near Ft. Buhlow Recreation area?
I know it's close to Alexandria, but I am not familiar with the area.
Will be there in Oct. I assume this is Pool 3??? I have only fished 4 & 5......

    Thanks

Hey Bobby, 1st , what pools do you plan on fishing? Alexandria is in pool 2. There are no boat "friendly" places. They are your basic hotels. That's the bad thing. There is a newly built hotel down the road from the Buhlow landing in Pineville. It's a straight shot from there. Living here i would stay in P'ville before Alexandria. Now in pool 3 at colfax, there is a campground for RV's and further up at St. Maruice there is a marina that rents out trailers. Then again not sure where you plan on fishing and such. Shoot me an IM and i'll send my cell # if you need any help or info.

Like Jeremy said, at St. Maurice in Pool 3 there are trailers to rent. We stayed at one of them during the RROC. $75/night and they are nice and clean. Friendly people running it-went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Unless something has changed, I would recommend them.

Re: Lodging Question - Red River (preacher ed)

One other thing, in poll 2 just south of Alexandria there are some cabins to rent. They are fairly new but i don't have info on them. I guess it's a matter of where you plan on fishing and staying.

Ed, i seen that the marina was for sale.

Here is the website on the oxbow cabins. http://www.oxbowcabins.com/

Yes, this is a new hotel with plenty of parking but the only thing is that the rooms are on the inside of the building, know what i mean......it's about a 4 miles from the landing but all highway. I though it was shorter but just did it on google earth.

I always stay at the Best Western in Alexandria (Pool #2) for tournaments. It's close to the landing and has outside rooms. I haven't experienced any problems. You need to have a couple of cones to prevent someone from parking in the spots in front of your room.

Jeremy, there was a realty sign there saying it was for sale when we were there but they talked like they would be there a while. In other words I think it will be open until it sells. At least I hope it is. We really enjoyed our stay there.

I happened to see it in the real estate book that the wife picked up. Stopped at the store once, really nice and good hamburgers. Would be a nice place to hold big tourneys.
